Coronavirus in Delhi: 3 Suspected cases of Coronavirus Reported

Recently Delhi’s three cases of Coronavirus are in the discussion. Men between the age of 24 to 48 are suspected to be infected with Coronavirus were admitted to Delhi’s Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on Monday 27th Jan 2020.

The two of three are the residents of Delhi while one hails from NCR. All of them came back from China. One of them is a student who came back to his homeland a month ago while the other two cases visited China for business purposes.

Dr. Meenakshi Bharadwaj, Medical Superintendent of Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, said, “All of the three cases suspected to have common symptoms which inclined to the symptoms of coronavirus, so were immediately admitted and are kept in an isolation ward for treatment.” 

The isolation ward has six beds for now, but if needed, the isolation wards can be expanded,” said Dr. Meenakshi Bharadwaj.

Initially, the blood samples of these three patients were sent to the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Delhi for identification of the cause of the illness. Later, they were sent to the ICMR-NIV Pune lab for further testing. According to sources, it is said that the report of these blood samples testing will be available within 3-4 days.

Meanwhile, precautions are being taken by installing Thermal Scanners on the major airports of India as Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Banglore, Kochi and Chennai to detect if any of the passengers are reflecting symptoms as infected by a coronavirus.

So far, the passengers traveling from China to India were 33,552 in 155 flights, and all of them have been screened via the scanners.

The Union Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan, has confirmed that there has been no positive case detected so far in India.

The Union Health Ministry held a meeting to analyze the alertness of prevention and management of the Coronavirus, also referred to as ‘novel coronavirus’ (nCov), in India. Also, he spoke to Chief Minister of Uttarakhand in concern of providing a screening facility at the Nepal border.

Put a Stop to Coronavirus

On Saturday, the Union Health Minister and Family Welfare passed an advisory to the passengers traveling from China to India, in order to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. He suggested some dos and don’ts in this advisory.

Passengers should cover their mouths if they are suffering from an illness like cough, cold and sneezing. They should immediately look for medical help as well.

Conclusion

If passengers realize any symptoms in-plane, they should immediately inform the airline crew and cover their faces with a mask. They should avoid close contact with people around them and maintain hygiene themselves.

While India is supposedly safe yet, around 106 people have died in China. And, many more are still struggling with their lives.
