IIFA Awards 2019: Alia Bhatt Wins the Best Actress for Starring In Raazi

Recently, IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) Awards held their 20th edition in Mumbai. And, Alia Bhatt won the best actress award for starring in Raazi. IIFA Awards made the right decision as she has been improving her acting skills on screen. Not just that, Raazi also won the Best Film Award. On the other hand, her co-star Vicky Kaushal also bagged an IIFA for the best supporting role Male in Sanju.

Many other actors and actress took the award home. Ranveer Singh received the best actor award in IIFA Awards for portraying a ruthless king in Padmavat and her co-star Aditi Rao Hydari won the IIFA for the Best Actress in supporting role female in Padmavat.

Why Raazi rose to fame?

Raazi is an adaptation of a novel called Calling Sehmat by Harinder S. Sikka. It is a real story of a young spy who marries in Pakistan to give Intel to Indian Government and Army about the attacks Pakistan is planning against India. Raazi was remarkable adaptation directed by Meghna Gulzar.

Alia Bhatt has proven that she is a treasure for Hindi Film Industry. Very early in her career, she started taking up experimenting and challenging movies like Highway, Kapoor and Sons and Udta Punjab. Recently in Raazi, she proved that she is worthy of every award that she gets.

Hindi Film Industry saw a lot of star kids debut this year, like Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar in Dhadak and Sara Ali Khan in Kedarnath. IIFA Award for Debut actor and actress went to Ishaan Khattar and Sara Ali Khan respectively. Padmavat and Raazi had 10 nominations whereas Andhadhun had staggering 13 nominations. The Director of Andhadhun, Sriram Raghvan critically acclaimed director ended up winning the best director award.

Apart from the aforementioned actors, Deepika Padukon also received a Special Award for Best Actress for Chennai Express whereas Ranbir Kapoor received for Best Actor for Barfi. The IIFA Awards was also won by Rajkumar Hirani for Best Director for 3 Idiots. Also, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai won the Best Film of last the 20 years.

Hindi Film Industry gave us excellent performances and movies this year. And, it definitely gets better every year. Can’t wait for what’s in store next.
