These conditions can vary from driving, standing on a balcony, or being near a weapon. The biggest risk in these conditions is that you cannot determine how your body is going to react. Sometimes being in a dangerous situation might not affect you at all. At sometimes it can push you to the edge.

If you ever feel that the urge is building you must try to get out of the dangerous situation. If you are driving, try to get away from traffic or stop your car on the side of the road.

Initially, escaping will seem impossible. But don’t give in to those urges.

Controlled Breathing

Try some deep breathing exercises if feel some kind of suicidal pressure building. Take in deep breaths through your nose and let go through your mouth. Deep breaths slow down your respiratory rate. It allows the brain to get as much oxygen as it needs. Moreover, it helps you analyze your thought.

Shift Your Focus

Shifting your focus can help you a lot. When you have a suicidal thought, try to redirect your attention towards something less harmful. Some people go out for a walk (it is better to walk than to drive). You can go for a run and let out all the negative energy.

If you don’t want to do any physical work, you can start with something simple. Like count, your breaths, listen to some calming music or read something. They seem like ordinary activities, but they are incredibly engaging.

You can do some muscle relaxing exercises as well. Once your body is relaxed, you will see the pressure of suicidal thoughts lifting.

Get Help

If you feel that you cannot handle things anymore, try getting some professional help. Talk to a therapist and just let it out. Getting a therapist appointment can take some time. But it is a long term solution. If you want immediate assistance, you can talk to a friend or someone you are close to.

These are some ways in which you can overcome your suicidal thoughts. Just remember that life is precious. You might be having some issues in your life, but it is all temporary. Giving up on life is not a solution.
